Process paper
Topic
My project focuses on revolution and I was interested both in World War I (WWI) weapons and how they affected the outcome of the war.
Research Background
I searched the internet for military websites, visited book stores, and watched WW1 videos throughout the Internet.

Category
I selected doing a Website for our project. I chose the Website because I felt both comfortable using technology and thought it would be different.
Revolution Globally
Strategy
Weapons used in WWI were revolutionary in many aspects. The need for weapons and a nation’s ability to produce them affected the country and its way of life. Many people in countries had a strong desire to support their military, but it came at a price. Soldiers from small and large nations were being killed in the thousands to defend their countries. Better weapons were needed, but better weapons cost more. The new weapons were made more advanced, more accurate, and this forced nations who could to make weapons bigger, faster and stronger. Smaller nations with less money would no longer be able to compete in war with the bigger nations. Armies could no longer win wars with just a lot of soldiers; they needed all types of weapons, using airplanes, tanks, bullets, chemicals and machines.
Technology
Impact
With the invention of chemical gases, nations had a new weapon that could be dropped by airplanes that got soldiers sick or choked to death. Machine guns could go thru one million rounds of bullets a day; airplanes were equipped with grenades and other war materials for soldiers to use for the war. Tanks were made bullet proof. U-Boats-submarines allowed armies to go under water and hide from their enemies. Advanced weapons of WWI, had a deadly effect
on soldiers, common people, resources, and ways of life.
Manufacturing and Economics Impact
In the U.S., for the first time, women had to work in factories to help make weapons because men were at war. Everything was short in supply; supporting the war and soldiers was a nation’s first priority. People rich and poor had to slow down on resources and their way of life. The costs of weapons was so expensive it caused shortages of steel, cotton, rubber, gas, aluminum and even food, making it hard for people to buy what they needed.
Impact Today
World War I and the weapons used had a long impact on how we fight today. We have learned to fight better as a result of WWI and the wars that followed. Military strategy has changed. Guns are made to last longer, shoot farther and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Planes fly faster, longer and don’t have to land on the ground to receive fuel. Soldier uniforms and boots have been made more comfortable, warmer for cold weather, thinner for hot weather. Soldier personal equipment is smaller, lighter and nearly unbreakable. Jeeps were replaced by Humvees, which are more rugged, and can carry more people. Soldiers are better trained.
